Sure, over-the-counters take the edge off, and prescribed meds can knock you out, but there has to be more than that, right? Patients often complain, "The medication works, but I feel like I'm living in a bad dream." No one wants to live in a haze.
At Thrive Health Systems, we like to say, "Pain is the alarm to your fire." For a long-term solution, put the fire out, and the alarm (the pain) will go off too.
As a former headache sufferer, Colorado Springs Chiropractor, Dr. Erik Arter and his family scoured the earth for solutions to his childhood headaches. At the early age of nine years old, Dr. Arter remembers the debilitating pain that his headaches.
“I shutter to think of anyone having to go through what I did as a child,” says Dr. Arter. "As a kid, regular chiropractic care helped, but my headaches didn't go away completely until began atlas orthogonal care when I was in college. This experience is what made me specialize in atlas orthogonal."
If you are like most people, you've never heard of the Atlas Orthogonal chiropractic technique.
Atlas Orthogonal is a technique that is very effective, but hard to find because it requires extensive training to master. Thrive Health Systems is the only chiropractic clinic in Colorado Springs that has the ability to treat patients with this state of the art technique.
There are various types of headache and facial pain syndromes that originate from nerve pressure at the at first two vertebra in the spine: the Atlas (C1) and the Axis (C2). These two bones are vastly different than other vertebra in the spine primarily they move differently and are not hindered by a disc. This allows for wonderfully dynamic movement but because the Atlas vertebra houses the body’s central computer, the brainstem, it can cause a patient to experience headaches ranging anywhere from minor to debilitating.
Atlas Orthogonal is a very gentle adjusting procedure fostered by an instrument designed by Dr. Roy Sweat with the help of physicist as Georgia Tech University. This tool gently frees the nerves in the spine from the pressure of these two vertebra.
It is not uncommon to encounter patients who have suffered with headaches for most of their lives. These patients are often emotional when they find that they can move on with their lives uninhibited.
One patient who experienced migraine headaches and was ready to give up hope was heard to say following her first adjustment, “This is the first time I have not had a migraine headache in 30 years. I wish I had known about this years earlier.”
