Types of Massage
Our chiropractor and her team have helped many patients overcome back and neck pain, whether it be whiplash from car accidents, sports injuries, or a myriad of other painful health conditions, and she is absolutely enthusiastic about what massage can do for her patients. In concert with chiropractic adjustments, physical therapy techniques and lifestyle changes like improved nutrition, Dr. Molly encourages patients to explore how the following four types of massage can help them: Deep Tissue, Ashiatsu, Swedish, and Pregnant Mommies.'
Deep tissue massage is a form of physical therapy work that gets down into the body's muscles, tendons, joints, and ligaments, improving circulation, working out hidden knots and difficult spots, and stimulating healing and pain relief through the release of endorphins. While we offer hands-only deep tissue massage therapy, chiropractor Dr. Molly recommends her patients try out our Ashiatsu therapy for the ultimate experience.
Also known as "Oriental Bar Therapy," Ashiatsu is an intense, deep massage where the therapist holds on to bars suspended from the ceiling while using her feet to work on the patient. Using a skillful, controlled combination of gravity and body weight, she does not actually stand on the patient, but delivers broad, deep, graceful strokes down the patient's back. It is an unforgettable, therapeutic experience followed by hot stone therapy, and absolutely works wonders for back pain and neck pain.
Swedish Massage is a classic massage that works tension out of the muscles, improves circulation and leads to an overall sense of well being and stress relief. Although it does not work as deeply into the body as a deep tissue massage, it is still enormously beneficial in relieving back and neck pain, whiplash from car accidents, joint pain and headache. We include essential oils and hot stone therapy to enhance the spa-like experience.
If there was ever a time in a woman's life when she needed a massage, pregnancy would be it! Pregnant mommies' massage helps with pregnancy-induced back pain and keeps muscles, joints and tendons limber and relaxed to handle the extra load of creating another life, improves circulation and aids in preparation for a smooth delivery, thus helping both mommy and baby.
